A very happy Friday to you all and welcome to our new blog series! If you’re like me, throughout the week you read or come across all kinds of interesting things, but we all have a bit more time on the weekends for leisurely reading. So, I thought it might be fun to compile these bits of this and that and share them with you! I hope that in some small way you’ll find them interesting, useful, and even worth a laugh or two. So, here goes…
Who knew?! Conde Nast Traveler recently had an article entitled Should You Wear Makeup on a Plane? I love gray but I sure do not want ‘gray-colored’ skin! It’s made me think twice about wearing makeup when flying, and I loved the various tips for what “not to do” and what “to do”, including the recommendation to travel in gray cashmere. Now that’s right up my alley!
And speaking of makeup, let me share a recommendation based on a personal experience of mine. During the photo shoot for the Plucky Field Trip Collection, I was constantly experiencing smudged eye liner (ugh…there was more on my camera than on my right eye lid.). Serious raccoon look going on which made for very interesting angles when I needed to be in some of the photos. Let’s just say ‘it’s all about the angles’ had more to do with eyeliner than anything else.
The answer? Marc Jacobs HIGHLINER Gel Eye Crayon that does not (repeat, does not) smudge. Plus, it comes in so many great colors and has a secret built in sharpener!
A good night’s sleep. That’s exciting stuff and can be hard to come by! I discovered a non-down alternative, hypoallergenic pillow that I can’t live without! It keeps its shape, is actually comfortable (and can be adjusted to your liking!), helps with neck pain, and stays cool.
Hayley and I are headed to Dad’s (Elmer T’s!) for dinner this weekend, and we’ll be treating him to a recipe from one of our favorite chefs, Ina Garten. This recipe is in pretty heavy rotation around here. Are you making/baking/cooking anything fun this weekend? Oh and Ina has a brand new cookbook that will be making it’s way into our cooking libraries – Cooking For Jeffrey!
Nearing the end of my Compass Shawl which has me thinking ahead… And more often than not, especially this time of year, my go to project of choice is a hat. You know… when in doubt, knit a hat! It’s prime hat weather after all. A couple I’ve been eyeing recently are Wildflowers Cap by Mary Jane Mucklestone and Extra Slouch Hat by Jane Richmond (thinking Groovy!).
