All About That Base! Ox & Scholar!

All About Oxford & Scholar!

Why do we love Oxford (fingering weight) and Scholar (worsted weight) so much?  How much time do you have?  From the way they take the dye to how light and lofty they are, these two beauties are perfect for everything from garments to accessories!  Scholar and Oxford (75% Merino.25% Cashmere) are woolen spun which results in a fluffier, rustic yarn that traps air so it’s lighter, warmer and blooms beautifully.  At the same time, both are perfect for stockinette, cabling and openwork due to being very evenly plied. It’s important to keep in mind that these two bases take the color in a darker, heathered way and will not appear as “clear” as the Primo’s or Solo.  The base color of the naked yarn provides a wonderful warmth and depth that gives your finished piece and lovely vintage feel.

Today, we did our first Live Instagram video talking about these two special bases.  If you were able to join us live, thank you so much!  We loved talking to you guys in real time and hope you enjoyed it, too! We shared a number of our favorite patterns to use with these yarns and have provided all the links below for your convenience.
