Introducing Plucky Cormo + Plucktober v.2!

Hi Folks! Boy, do we have a lot of things brewing in the barn and that means we’ve got a lot to share with you! Below you’ll find details about:

• The second Plucktober Update starting this weekend.
• Three more Plucktober designs, two of which will have kits available to make purchasing easier; and if you need any help making kits from the colors available, please check out the very useful Plucky APP as well as asking for help in the Update Chatter Threadon Ravelry.
• The colors and bases that will be available during the update.
• And, last but definitely not least, our NEWEST BASE!! Introducing CORMO!!!!

____
Introducing CORMO!
Cormo, a mix of Corriedale and Merino sheep, is a beautifully bouncy, springy, and luxurious yarn. Our Cormo is milled in the USA with very minimal processing, and not superwashed to allow this beautiful fiber to really sing. This incredibly fine fiber is also sturdy making it perfect for garments and other heavy-wearing knits, and its springiness making it perfect for textures and cables.
180 yards per 100g skein

LINGER SET.  This wrap can be worn as a scarf, or a blanket cardigan thanks to two simple armholes. It’s the perfect transition piece as you’ll want to layer with this in the mornings, and throw it back on at sunset. With an adorable hat to match, what’s not to love!

NOTE: Linger Kits are only available in bases shown in sample; MC is on Yakkity Aran and CCs are on Halo Worsted.
_____
BILLET.  The eye-catching graphics that adorn this colorful set are easier to knit than you’d think! Rather than traditional stranded colorwork, slip stitches are used to create this bold effect. Using only one color at a time, the magic of mosaic knitting gives this hat and mitt set a fantastic pop of color to brighten up any day! Pattern has options for a fingering weight or DK weight set.

SPLIT CUFF PULLOVER.  Hidden details in this simple pullover make this a very special knit. A split cuff detail is achieved by simply not seaming together the cuff, and the finished look of the neckband is achieved by folding it to the inside making it doubled and so cozy!

We’re thrilled to be starting the party with this Plucktober update that features kits for two of the patterns that will be released for this special month!  Meet Wasp Nest and Tuft!

Wasp Nest is a worsted weight shawl knit in your choice of two or four colors.  Sections of straight-forward lace and slip-stitch color work keep the knitting engaging and fun!  The finished result is a striking accessory to keep you cozy as the temperatures dip.

It’s time for Plucktober 2018!!!

Welcome to Plucktober 2018 — a month long celebration of all things Plucky — the yarn, the patterns, the camaraderie, the knitting, the FUN!

And….. hold on to your hats you guys because this year we are beyond thrilled to be kicking off the festivities with a special in-person shopping event!  That’s right, the Plucky H2 Shop will be open on Saturday, September 29th from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm EDT for shopping, a sit-n-knit, and tutorial demonstrations.

This year we will have six new patterns designed specifically for Plucktober. With a fabulous mix of hats, mitts, shawls/wraps, plus a new sweater, there’s a little something for one and all!  Plus, the announcement of the second sweater in the #upyoursweatergame series! There will be special Knit-a-longs (KAL’s) for all of these patterns.

We will also have general Stitch-a-longs (SAL’s), where you can knit (or crochet or machine knit) any pattern you’d like. Our categories this year will be:
• Accessories (hats, mitts, cowls, scarves, shawls, socks)
• Baby/Kids/Home/Living (baby or children’s garments, blankets, decorative items)
• Garments
• Machine knitting
• Finish Those WIPs

FAQs
Q: When does Plucktober start and end?
A: Plucktober runs September 29th – October 31st . Cast on for all KAL’s/SAL’s begins September 29th, at 10:00 AM EDT (official kick-off at H2 Pop-Up) and ends October 31st at 11:59 PM (your time zone).

Q: How do I participate in the SAL’s?
A: Each individual KAL/SAL will have its own (stickied) discussion thread, in our Ravelry Group, with rules posted at the top. When you have finished your project, post pictures of your finished objects on Instagram with the hashtag #plucktober2018, or tag your project on Ravelry with plucktober2018.  Prizes will be given out for each category. Only FO’s (finished objects) that are 100% in Plucky yarn will be eligible.

Be sure to stay up-to-date on all announcements for Plucktober and the Pop-Up over on the official Ravelry thread, PLUCKTOBER 2018 OFFICIAL THREAD.

This is going to be great fun, we hope you’ll join us!

Happy Glamping At Home/Plucktovember! We know you have been waiting for the virtual party celebrating all things Plucky and we are so thankful you’ve come by to join us. We are excited to spend some time knitting and conversing with you as we make our way through Field Trip and really digging our heels into fall (are we really in the last quarter of 2016?!).

While the structure of Glamping At Home/Plucktovember has a bit of a different look and feel this year, we are nonetheless ready to have a great time with all of you! This year will have a simpler approach in years past, the dates are a little different, but thank you for understanding that pulling off events back-to-back (even online!) require time and energy. And, we’re human. We need time to recharge our batteries, too!

So, without further ado, and if you haven’t hopped in the Kickoff KAL already, we hope you’ll join us! We loved Glamping and are ready to continue the festivities we started off at Islandwood with you all at home and to see us through Plucktovember!

• One final prize, drawn at Random, for each of the (5) KAL’s – a SQ (max 8 sks) yarn & Plucky t-shirt/sweatshirt

Plucky Reserve!

shop-100616-320x518

Have you had an opportunity to take look at the Plucky Reserve lately? It’s getting really interesting over there! And, it promises to be a VERY lively place over the next few days!

As the yarn and all the remaining swag from Glamping arrives back in the barn (we subscribe to the ‘go big or go home’ and the ‘all that and the kitchen sink’ mentality when prepping for a show), we are inventorying and stocking it into the Reserve. We hope you will check regularly because this is going to be a constantly changing scene! Here you will find your favorite scummies, brights, tonals, greys, and SBs across so many of the Plucky bases. But, keep looking because there will also be mystery kits, project bags, Fringe Field bags, coffee mugs, pens, and on and on! About the only thing you won’t find will be a little black and white dog named Ox! He’s not leaving my side, nor I his. So glad to be home with my pups!

Please remember, items from the Reserve Shop are all ready to ship. Your Plucktober/vember project might be right there, waiting for you!

Glamping At Home With Plucky 2016

glamping-wishyouwerehere-1

Happy Plucktober First! The Plucky marketplace at Islandwood was hopping yesterday and we can’t wait to meet even more of you today! We are having an incredible time with all of you official Glampers, our Day-Glamper friends (can’t wait to meet more of you today!), and those keeping up with us from home. Plucktober is definitely on our minds and although we are away from the barn with most of our hands on deck here in WA, we are officially going to start the festivities with the first Kickoff KAL to Glamping At Home 2016!

We invite you to join us by casting on a Persephone, Persephone Throw, or the Onward & Upward hats. Have you already started a Persephone or knit the Onward & Upward hats? No worries! You are included and eligible for the KAL, too.

Glamping At Home With Plucky will run from now, October 1st through November 15th. Be sure to take a look through Field Trip and start planning your projects because we’re going to be busy! Share your plans, get inspiration and encourage your fellow Plucksters in the Official Glamping At Home thread in our Ravelry group. Click HERE to find out the details of our first KAL. There will be more news to come later next week as we wrap up the in-person Glamping event and make our way back to the Plucky barn. We promise there will be great prizes in store, including official Glamping with Plucky swag bags and Shooters! To qualify for prizes, you must post a finished project page on Ravelry and use the official hashtag “glampingathome2016”.

We are having so much fun here on the island and we are thrilled that we get to extend the fun into November with you all at home!

Wish you were here!

It’s A Wrap! Plucktober 2015

Plucktober-Logo-2015-w

And, just like that, we have knit, crocheted and woven our way through the entire month of Plucktober! Thirty-one days in which we pushed ourselves toward the finish line. I hope you enjoyed every bit of it! Now that we find ourselves sitting in November (almost the end no less!), it’s time to applaud each other for all our efforts.

Personally, I would like to thank Ien and Jill for the hundreds of hours they logged organizing and administering Plucktober. They assembled an awesome group of moderators who were on top of their groups, literally 24/7! You were terrific leaders, cheerleaders and hand holders.

I hope you had fun. Whether you finished every task you set for yourself on Plucktober 1st or not, it has been great fun knitting with you all! Thank you!
