Let’s Talk

Meet PLEASANT PHEASANT! Such a fun color on Solo! But, as gorgeous as ‘Pheasant’ is on Solo, it does not work on some of the other bases. As much as we would love to say this colorway can be all things to all bases, sadly, it can’t. And, this is true of many other Plucky colors.

Through the years, as our Plucky colors and bases have been developed, we have tried to be as inclusive as possible to the individual preferences of each one of you. There are some who love that the same color can look wildly different when dyed on different bases. However, for others, this can be extremely disappointing and frustrating. Please know that it is disappointing and frustrating for us as well! For instance, if you compare Primo vs. Traveler vs. Snug vs. Beauregard and use the exact same recipe, one end product will differ significantly (sometimes baring little to no resemblance at all) from another.

We are currently and actively addressing some quality issues that have crept up on us. In an effort to concentrate on the art we love and are proud to share with you, we will be changing and improving some processes. We will no longer be offering all colorways on all bases. When new colorways are released, or we are creating lists of colorways to highlight in an update, we will only be offering the base and color combinations we believe best represent the vision and inspiration we had when we created each of them. To be clear, we most definitely want to know what your wishes are. For example, if you want to see Pleasant Pheasant on Solo added to an update, you bet! However, if you are looking for that colorway on Beauregard, that is a wish we will not be able to grant.

What does all of this really mean? Well, simply put, it’s time for a few changes, such as, the recent addition of more specialized updates! The positive feedback has been wonderful. We are glad that you know that we realize that while Tuesday might be a Blues & Browns update and Thursday a sweater kit update, that does not mean both updates will fit with everyone’s plans or wishes, and that’s ok!

We appreciate your loyalty, your friendship, and your business. It is in this vein that we are making every effort to be sure that the yarn you receive is exactly what your vision was when you ordered it. We will always continue to strive to be as inclusive as possible to the individual preferences of each one of you.

Warmly,

Sarah & Hayley

It’s cashmere GALORE with this not-so-little yarn baby!  We are so very smitten with this limited-edition run of 100% pure cashmere.  Galore boasts a whopping 670 yards of light and lofty fingering weight cashmere per skein ($115/skein), and takes the color like a champ!  With it’s generous yardage, two skeins make a fabulous (and very generous!!) sized shawl or wrap for you to wrap yourself in cashmere Galore!!

In addition to Galore, stay tuned for all the details on two more brand-new bases debuting at the pop-up…Yakkity and Beauregard!!!

Hello, Phoebe!

Hello Phoebe!!

Please join us in welcoming the latest addition to the family of Plucky bases…introducing, Phoebe!! Why do we love Phoebe? How much time do you have?! Named after one of the precious new Plucky pups, Phoebe couldn’t be a better match. Just like its namesake, Phoebe is incredibly soft with loads of personality. Don’t blame us if all you want to do is snuggle up and pet it!

With its unique twist (we’re talking just the slightest crimp here, think Groovy Baby’s little sister), Phoebe can be worked on a wide range of needles to achieve a family of different fabrics, all soft with drape, but with a fabulous range in fluidity. Comprised of 100% Cashmere (230 yards/60g skein, fingering weight), you’ll positively luxuriate in the buttery softness as you knit with Phoebe.

With a fabulous mix of colorwork, cables and texture, there’s sure to be something for everyone!

As with previous collections, this is truly a collaborative effort and I could not be more grateful to my partners in crime! My heartfelt thanks go out to Hayley, Jill and Michele for their talent, time and dedication. We only hope that you enjoy knitting this collection as much as we did creating it. Now for the big question…what will be the first thing to hit your needles?!

Special Announcement: Michele Wang

2018 is off to a stellar start here at Plucky!

For starters, we are beyond delighted to announce that Michele Wang has been appointed Design Director for The Plucky Knitter! Not only is Michele a fabulous designer, but she is also one of our favorite people and we are so fortunate to have her join our little crew.

Michele began designing knitwear when she couldn’t find the exact cowl she wanted in stores. After playing around with a few stitch patterns and cast-on numbers, the Eternity Scarf was born, her very first design. Drawing from her background in fine arts, fashion design and business, she left the corporate world in 2011 to pursue designing knitwear independently. Since then she’s been published in Vogue Knitting, Interweave’s knit.wear, Pom Pom, Amirisu, along with her plethora of gorgeous independent designs.

Michele has always been a lover of texture and cables, but her love of colors emerged when she came across The Plucky Knitter. In 2014, she designed her first piece using Bello Worsted in Signature Cocktail and aptly named it Corvina. Soon thereafter, Verdea, Treccia, Seaview and Quadri, to name a few, were released – all designs driven and inspired by the color of the and the textures the yarns created.

While we have our own distinct design styles, we have found they dovetail beautifully, and together we’re committed to developing patterns for you that are unique, modern yet timeless, and showcase Plucky yarns beautifully.

Please join me in welcoming Michele, our new Design Director, to the Plucky Crew!!
